About
I started this blog without revealing my name to free me from my inhibitions and allow me to open up beyond what I normally would.
I’m a forty three year old male. I am married to a wonderful person (yogamum) who introduced me to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga several years ago. Ashtanga Yoga is a kind of yoga taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois consisting of a series of postures (asanas) done in a specific sequence. Currently I only do what is called the primary series.
The Ashtanga primary series is a hell of a workout. You go from pose to pose, non-stop, for about 90 minutes and you build heat and quite a sweat. For me Ashtanga started completely as a physical practice. It was just another tool to get in better shape. Over time, it has evolved into something more. It is very hard for me to explain. It is not a religion, it is not a cult.
Yoga Spell is a journey of discovery through the spell of yoga — that something else beyond exercising that is taking place in my body and mind. For the first time in my life I do not have a set plan as to where this journey will take me.
We shall see…
